EVOLO from Broadband Gateways uses a variety of technologies, from Ethernet to Home PNA to wireless to distributed broadband services, throughout the home or small business without the need to rewire or use separate adapter boxes. Basically, with EVOLO, you're getting business class service with residential simplicity at a reasonable price. You simply select the the set of modules you need for your specific applications and then pay as you grow.

The EVOLO Intelligent Premises Gateway offers many advantages, such as support for multiple voice lines, highspeed Internet access, and a single platform. To start with, EVOLO uses embedded voice over broadband technology to get multiple voice lines into the home; then it wirelessly distributes those lines. The intuitive, menu-driven, wireless handsets allow users the convenience of a cordless phone with the necessary business functionality. Then, EVOLO cuts through telecommuting inconveniences with its single-platform that contains all of the tools necessary to build a virtual office, including voice, fax, broadband access, VPNs for corporate LAN and voice connections, and multimedia applications. Finally, with EVOLO, each business puts together a custom package targeted toward its specific needs based on the various EVOLO modules, so costs are minimized.

EVOLO, like most other gateways, offers 10MB LAN connection, but it also provides a 10/100BaseT five-port Ethernet hub for speedier downloads. In addition, EVOLO's bridging capabilities allow the HomePNA and Ethernet nodes talk to each other. Its built-in ADSL modem connects EVOLO to the Web, while network address translation (NAT) and port filtering keep businesses protected from Internet vandals. This gateway supports all the major gateway and router standards, so it is as flexible as they come.

The real treat from EVOLO is its wireless phone system. Rather than multiplexing voice over the same wire, EVOLO goes wireless with a 900MHz spread spectrum phone system, supporting up to 8 wireless handsets. It also provides RJ-11 jacks in the main unit to link two wired analog phone if desired. All of the phones have a vast array of telephony features, including four simultaneous intercom channels, voicemail, call transfer, call forwarding, call conferencing, and caller ID-based routing.

Pricing and Availability

Broadband Gateways distributes EVOLO through carrier customers who have compatible DSL concentrators, so retail pricing is not yet available.
