Skyline 802.11b Wireless Broadband Gatewayby The Skyline 802.11b is a wireless access point, a router, and a four-port switch all in one. It allows a group of 15-20 networked users to share a broadband cable or xDSL modem connection securely via Ethernet or 802.11b wireless connections. So now when you're in the office, and you ask, "What's that up in the air? Is it a bird? Is it a plane?" Someone can respond, "No, it's your network data." To establish local Ethernet connections, computers can hook up to one of the four 10/100 switches or communicate through the 802.11b wireless access point, which requires for your client-side device to be 802.11b-enabled, as well. A separate 10/100 Ethernet port connects to your cable or DSL connection to keep your local computers isolated from the broadband network. Management is easily conducted via a Web-based system that allows local or remote users to configure the device from any Web browser. Configuration is further simplified through the use of PPPoE and DHCP client support. For security, it also supports NAT and 64 and 128bit WEP encryption. Network administrators can also rest assured that this device supports VPN and is compatible with IPSec and PPTP VPN client networking software. Special user-configurable TCP and UDP ports allow users to run Internet applications without explosing the computer to the network or the Internet. Pricing and Availability The Skyline 802.11b Wireless Broadband Gateway is currently available for $299.
