Intermec 6651 By Where other Windows CE-based handheld PCs have fallen short, the Intermec 6651 has risen above its competition. The most notable difference between this device and others of the same kind is the bright, crisp 64k color active matrix TFT screen that is a cut above the typical DSTN screens found on other handheld PCs. Its 7.1" screen displays 800 x 480 pixels, which is more convenient for viewing than the 640 x 480 pixels found on other handheld PCs. Another unique feature is its fold over design that allows you to use it in the typical clamshell mode, as a pen tablet, or as a display easel for presentations. The Intermec 6651 even has a built-in 350k pixel digital camera for movies or still photography. The Intermec 6651 is fast, too. It is powered by a high performance, 129 MHz Toshiba MIPS processor and includes 32 MB RAM. For expandability and connectivity, the 6651 has USB, serial/VGA, and IrDA ports, and PC and CompactFlash slots. It has an integrated 56K modem. It also supports standard wireless W-LAN PC cards (802.11b and OpenAir) for added functionality. The Intermec 6651 measures 8.4" x 5.5" x 1.1" (213 x 140 x 28.3 mm), which is smaller than the "full-size" handheld PCs, but then again, it only weighs 1.9 lbs (0.86 kg). Its keyboard is 69% the size of a full-size keyboard and has 79-keys. It runs on a rechargeable lithium ION battery pack with a life of ten hours for typical usage, or four hours of continuous use. The battery recharges in 2.5 hours. It comes pre-loaded with a variety of software including the standard Microsoft Pocket applications. It also includes Microsoft Terminal Server Client, which turns the 6651 into a Mobile Terminal you can use to access full-function desktop applications away from the office. Pre-loaded software also supports the built-in camera. Pricing and Availability If all this sounds too good to be true, the $1,499 price tag should wake you up. The Intermec 6651 is currently available online.
