For several industries, computing is very specific, very personalized, and very limited in function. In those cases, it often doesn't make sense to have a full-fledged PC sitting at every workstation. Why would you do that when your workers only need to access a handful of applications and a network database? That is where thin client computing comes in. One such thin client is the NetVista N2200 from IBM.

Using the NetVista N2200, companies can provide relatively inexpensive, easy to maintain workstations that allow their workforces to access multiple applications on multiple servers at the same time. And IT professionals only have to concern themselves with deploying system and application updates on the central servers, rather than 100+ personal computers.

The NetVista N2200 can access server-based, multi-user Windows applications, the Internet, multimedia files, and Java components. It runs on a 266 MHz Intel Pentium MMX processor, and includes 32 MB SDRAM, which is expandable to 288 MB. The NetVista operates using NetVista Thin Client with TurboLinux. Though a monitor is not included, it supports up to 1024 x 1024 resolution with 256 colors.

For connectivity, the NetVista uses two USB ports and an RJ-45 Ethernet connector. The NetVista measures 8.5 x 1.6 x 10.8 inches and weighs 5.0 lbs.
