On the front end, WebDT 500 supports typical Internet browsing capability. It comes equipped with Windows Media Player, Java Virtual Machine, Acrobat PDF Viewer, Macromedia Flash Player, and Microsoft's Office Suite Viewer. Its 10.4 inch display allows for 800 x 600 screen resolution, and audiophiles will find it accommodates all major formats: MP3, WAV, AIFF, MIDI, and AU. In addition, its terminal emulation suite lets remote users connect to IBM, DEC, Wyse, and HP servers.

The WebDT 500's thin client capacity is furnished by a combination of National Semiconductor's Geode processor, Microsoft's Windows CE 3.0 operating system, and the Citrix ICA and Microsoft RDP thin client/server protocols. The system provides 32 MB flash and 64 MB SDRAM memory.

Network connectivity is provided by a standard 10/100 BaseT Ethernet connection. This is supplemented by an optional 56K V. 90 modem. And a range of I/O devices, including infrared, USB interfaces, and an external CompactFlash slot, support peripherals used in most home and office settings.

Its 4 lb. sleek design with the thin monitor mounted above a wireless keyboard measures 11.8 inches high, 12.6 inches wide, and 4.9 inches deep.
