HP Jornada 565byBefore we get into the specs and features, let's take note of one major change in this new series of Jornadas: the stylus. Gone is that wide, flat pen-thing that was somewhat clumsily hidden in the Jornada cover. Now it has a more familiar pen-shaped stylus that slips into the body like a normal PDA. Thank you, HP. Now on to the less important stuff. The Jornada 565 is differentiated from the other Pocket PC in this series by the amount of memory (and the price) -- 32 MB of RAM compared to the 64 MB of RAM in the 585. But otherwise, both devices are pretty much the same. They are built around a 206 MHz Intel StrongARM processor, as are all of the other PDAs based on Pocket PC 2002, and they both have a 240 x 320, 65,536 color reflective TFT touchscreen LCD. Software components include mobile versions of Word, Outlook, Excel, Media Player 8, and Internet Explorer. Other software includes Microsoft Reader, MSN Messenger, Microsoft Transcriber, Note Taker, Voice Recorder, ActiveSync, Calculator, and Solitaire. ActiveSync comes in handy when you connect this PDA up to your computer via the USB cradle or optional serial connection. Additional memory or applications can also be inserted via the CompactFlash card slot. The HP Jornada 565 weighs 6.1 oz with the standard Lithium-Polymer battery pack, which provides you with 14 hours of power. It measures 5.2 x 3.01 x 0.68 in. Pricing and Availability The HP Jornada 565 is currently available for $599.
