Sony CLIE PEG-T415bySony's CLIE family is quickly expanding, but in number only. One of the latest CLIEs, the PEG T415, is actually thinner than the rest, measuring a mere 0.39 inches deep. CLIE aficionados will be happy to hear that the reduction in size hasn';t also lead to a reduction in functionality. The T415 actually has a new capability that entertainment lovers will appreciate - the ability to control the home entertainment center.
The T415 is not pre-loaded with the entertainment software, but it does come bundled with the device. CLIE Remote Commander (v.1.0) uses the enhanced infrared port to work as a remote controller, controlling DVD players, TVs, VCRs, and AV receivers from up to 15 feet away.
But Sony knows that nobody buys a $400 device to use it as a remote controller, so developers have packed the device with the usual PDA necessities, as well. Palm Organizer software is included, so you can be sure to keep track of those addresses, phone numbers and appointments, and now you can choose your very own task reminder sound. A built-in speaker and Sound Generator feature will allow you to use preset system sounds or create your own with converted MIDI and WAV files. You know, for that personal touch. The T415 runs on a 33 MHz Motorola Dragonball VZ 33 MHz processor and uses Palm OS version 4.1. For your personal applications and files, you have 8 MB of DRAM and 4 MB of Flash, or you can insert a Memory Stick card for additional storage or application space. The monochrome touchscreen display renders images at 320 x 320 pixels. HotSyncing is available through the USB cradle. The PEG-T415 measures 4.65 x 2.88 x 0.39 in and weighs 4.3 oz.
