Palm m515byPalm has introduced a new PDA, the m515, replacing its m505 PDA. With the introduction of the m515 PDA, Palm has made several improvements to the m505 model while still retaining its small sleek design. One of the most notable differences is the m515's 16 MB of memory compared to only 8 MB in the m505. The m515 also features a new brighter color display -- a 160 x 160 pixel active matrix LCD that supports 65,000 colors and includes an adjustable backlight for maximum viewing control. The Palm m515 comes equipped with a 33 MHz Motorola Dragonball VZ processor and Palm 4.1 operating system. Plug in either MultimediaCard or SD expansion cards into its Palm Expansion Card slot to add memory, software applications, backup capabilities, eBooks, games, or reference works without taking up built-in memory space. The Palm Universal Connector located at the bottom of the device allows users to connect a wide assortment of peripherals including a modem, keyboard, or even a camera. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery will last up to one week, but using the brightest setting on the LCD will significantly reduce the amount of time before the battery needs recharging. The m515 has all the standard Palm software Address Book, Date Book, To Do List, Memo Pad, Note Pad, Calculator, and Palm desktop synchronization software for Windows and Mac. The m515 also includes bonus software applications. With DataViz Documents To Go, users can create, view, and edit Excel and Word documents and view and share PowerPoint presentations right from their PDA. MGI Photosuite Mobile Editon lets you store, view, and edit images and video clips. Other bonus software includes Palm Reader, powerOne Personal Calculator, PocketMirror for synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook, Avantgo Mobile Internet Service for downloading web content, HotSync Mail and Multimail SE email applications, and Mobile Connectivity Software. As with all Palm PDAs, there are thousands more applications available for download though their Software Connection some of them are even free. The m515 is 4.5 x 3.1 x 0.4 inches and weighs 4.0 oz. A USB HotSync cradle with battery charger is included. Pricing and Availability The Palm m515 is currently available for $399 at www.palm.com.
