Part of the PDS "Secured by CheckPoint" Series of security appliances, the PDS 1105 is a low-cost security appliance that integrates Check Poing VPN-1/FireWall-1 technology. The PDS 1105 runs on a Linux platform and an open Intel architecture, enabling intrusion detection and VPN/firewall applications to be easily added or modified.

But for most, adding software will not be necessary, as the PDS 1105 comes pre-installed with all of the software to ensure rapid deployment. Management is easily conducted through the Check Point NG Web-based management GUI or Check Point's enterprise management console and Provider-1/SiteManager-1 architecture. This means that even if your network administrator doesn't have that much security management experience, he can still get your system online securely.

So what kind of software does the PDS come with? Well, it ships with Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 SmallOffice NG software, giving you a desktop appliance for small and remote offices that works well with networks connected via ISDN, DSL, or fractional T1/E1 WAN connections.

The PDS 1105 includes a 300 MHz processor, 128 MB Compact Flash, and 64 MB RAM.
