QCP 6035 SmartphonebyBeing in the United States, it is sometimes difficult to find good wireless-ready gadgets. If you are searching for that ultimate smartphone, but keep getting bummed out because you have to live across the ocean to be able to use it, cheer up -- and check out the QCP 6035 from Kyocera. Oh, and if you happen to live overseas (not in Europe, though), don't fret -- you can use this device, too. The makers at Kyocera decided to include CDMA as the wireless technology of choice, exposing markets the world over to the concept of multi-tasking using a mobile phone. (Excluding, of course, the concept of using a mobile phone while driving; consumers figured that multi-tasking combo out long ago.) As a smartphone, which for our purposes requires the use of a standard embedded operating system, the QCP 6035 includes an address book, date book, memo pad, to-do list, and teh ability to sync up with your Palm desktop. In addition, if your service allows it, you can use the QCP 6035 to send or receive email and surf the Internet using a HTML or WAP browser. For security while surfing, the phone also supports encrypted HTML browsers for secure online transactions. You have 8 MB of memory to store all of your data or voice memo recordings. For the phone you have the option of using the speakerphone or voice dialing, if you decide not to use the keys. As for general input manuvers, users have the luxury of the familiar Palm GUI and touchscreen interface, which can be accessed by flipping the keypad down. Smart as this phone may be, petite and light it is not. As a cross between a PDA and a telephone, it weighs in at 7.34 ounces and measures 5.6 x 2.5 x 0.86 inches. Pricing and Availability The QCP 6035 Smartphone from Kyocera is currently available, even in the US, starting at $399.
