by

Now that almost every office has a network of computers, managing that network is a key issue. Most companies need a server to be able to control the information that flows in, out, and through the network. And that server needs to be easily modified, controlled, and accessed, while still being secure enough to protect all of your data. The Magnia SG10 from Toshiba incorporates these key features.

Magnia SG10

What does the Magnia SG10 do for your network? Well, it provides several templates for you to use to set up a company intranet to your specifications. It supports standard email services, based on POP3, and works will email programs like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Communicator. A built-in packet filter firewall protects all of your company data. This configurable system willl also let you filter out certain content coming in from the Internet. Web caching is an additional feature that will keep commonly accessed files on the server to improve Internet access performance. Speaking of connecting to the Internet, the Magnia SG10 is set up so that remote users can dial in to the built-in modem to access files and data on the network from a remote location.

As far as configuring your network is concerned, the Magnia SG10 will allow you to use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name Service (DNS), Network Address Translation (NAT), and Web services. It also supports FTP transfer, so you can send files to the Internet for easier access.

The Magnia SG10 is equipped with an AMD K6-2E 350 MHz processor and SiS 540 Chipset. It allows for 64 KB of primary caching, and 512 KB of second level caching.
