NetCambyThe NetCam combines the featuers of a digital camera and a web server in one device. It uses a Sharp 1/3 in CCD sensor to capture RGB jpeg images at a resolution of 640 x 480. The camera provides auto/manual exposure, auto/manual color balance, sharpening, contrast enhancement, gamma correction, and customizable date/time/text overlay. The camera has 2 MB of Flash memory. The NetCam runs on the uClinux operating system, and uses the Motorola Coldfire CPU. Of course it has a built-in web server, telnet server, and FTP client. Connect the camera to your network using a 10BaseT Ethernet port, or one of two RS-232 serial ports. The NetCam supports four digital alarm inputs and one fully isolated relay or photo flash trigger, so you can have the camera automatically respond to certain events and take pictures. Because the NetCam can be linked up to and directly controlled from any standard web browser, users may be a bit wary of the security surrounding it. Well, the NetCam makers have added security using password-protected user accounts for viewing and configuring the NetCam. The NetCam measures 3.25 x 2.20 x 6.56 in and weighs 19.5 oz. Pricing and Availability The Netcam is currently available for $499.
