FlairbyThe Flair from AirSpeak has been designed for the busy workplace environment where workers spend lots of time away from their desks. With this handheld device, users can access, view, and operate their desktop computer and all of the information stored in it from pretty far away. As long as your office supports an 802.11b network. The Flair is a sleek web tablet measuring 9.4 x 11.7 x 1.2 inches and weighing 3.0 lbs. The device itself consists of a 12.1 inch active matrix touch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The silver casing includes a stylus, built-in stereo speakers, and a microphone. Other input/output capabilities include VGA output, USB, Audio In/Out, and two Type II PCMCIA card slots. What can you do with all of these options? Well, you can use the Flair to mimic your desktop environment, running Word, Excel, email or Explorer remotely on this Windows CE 3.0-based device. Because the Flair is not a full-fledged computer, processing power is not the most important feature, but it is equipped with the Intel StrongARM 1110. Users can also look for 32 MB of memory, but keep in mind that the information you will be working with is housed on the hard drive on your PC. With wireless data transmission, security is definitely a concern. The Flair comes with its own security system, though you probably already have a bit of security set up already on your wireless network. But if you need more, the Flair also comes with 40/128-bit WEP. Pricing and Availability The Airspeak Flair is currently available for $1,985.
